Did not disappoint!
Jonatha Brooke has been on my radar for some time. The Forum, with its stadium shows, was my choice over the more intimate Palladium show. The production was excellent from a perspective. There were lots of cool and innovative things to keep the crowd engaged. Stylistically, it was flawless. They've really nailed their brand for this tour (80's futurism), and the stage show is a natural extension of the album and merch. Unfortunately, our seats were up in the nosebleed, so it wasn't as loud as I would have liked (I prefer my ears to bleed). When Matt Bellamy used the mike on the stage extension, he was hard to hear compared to the crowd. It wasn't an issue when he used the stationary mike with the band. Some friends on the floor didn't notice this and thought it was very loud. Maybe it's just a problem at high-level seats at The Forum.
The setlist was expertly crafted. It consisted of about 2/3 new album tracks and 1/3 classics, just as I had anticipated. The pacing and climaxes were well executed, resulting in an engaging show.
In conclusion, I give it 5 stars. I would recommend this tour to anyone, including those who may not be very familiar with the band.
